Tonga Conga is a project that began in 2020, as a consequence of the pandemic. During this transformative period, Raul changed from being an artist composing music only for himself, to becoming a music producer, working on other peoples albums. It is trough this profesional exploration that Raul started Tonga Conga, as a collaborative project that explores the sound of the Afro Caribbean rhythms, mixed with electronic music, and each track has a different voice from an artist of the Latin American alternative diaspora.
“Jevi” (2022) is the name of Tonga Conga’s first album, a work that portrays the potential of Raul as a producer, blending Avant Gard electronic music with afro Caribbean rhythms, in a club ready album, supported by a colorful ensemble of artists, such as: Acentoh (RD), Mabiland (Col), Vanessa Zamora (MX), Tolumide (Nig), Mula (RD), Immasoul (MX), Seba Otero (PR) and Plano (MX).
“Enter the Tonga”, his sophomore album, is a work that explores all the spectrum of Afro influenced music, going trough afro beat, amapiano, afro jazz, afro house and afro techno. This album includes artists like Dayme Arocena, the cuban legend of modern jazz, Queens Tafari from Colombia, Yadi Camara from Guinea and MedioPicky from the Dominican Republic.
